On Monday, May 18, from 7:20 PM to 8:20 PM CDT, Scouts from Illinois will be exploring the world of amateur radio during the “Scouts on the Air” event. Youth ages 11–17, along with their leaders, will have the opportunity to make their first radio contacts, try CW decoding, hunt for beacons, and learn more about our hobby and the many possibilities amateur radio offers.
The organizers encourage all amateur radio operators to make a short contact with the Scouts, ask a simple question, and share a few words about themselves and their hobby. Every QSO can become a special memory for these young participants and an inspiration to earn their own amateur radio license.
